Cannabidiol, or CBD as it is more commonly known, is an exciting new anti-inflammatory that is currently being researched and used by many people to help relieve their symptoms from a range of diseases and medical conditions. It was first discovered by scientists 40 years ago when they were studying the effects of cannabis smoke. After analyzing the plant they realized that it contained a low concentration of CBD, which led them to study the effects of CBD on inflammation. Since then CBD has shown promise in reducing the inflammation and pain associated with a number of medical conditions including Crohn's disease, arthritis and multiple sclerosis. Although CBD is still considered fairly exotic in comparison to other pharmaceuticals, it is gaining popularity among the modern medical community and is now considered to be one of the best alternative medicines. So what are CBD products, exactly? They are not necessarily the same as your more well-known prescription drugs, although there are a number of similarities. The primary difference between CBD and other pharmaceuticals is that CBD is considered to be a Schedule II drug, meaning it has a high potential for misuse and abuse, especially when taken in combination with other substances. One of the most popular cbd products available to date is CBD oil, which is derived from the CBD plant. Currently, the federal level allows the use of a maximum of three grams of CBD oil per day; however, anyone using CBD oil should still seek a doctor's opinion before doing so. Despite the current regulations, a growing number of people are using CBD products to help alleviate some of their symptoms; and in fact, CBD oil has been used to help patients treat everything from minor headaches to serious ailments like cancer and epilepsy. A recent study found that patients using this product for seizure problems experienced an improvement in their condition which lasted for 6 months. During this period, the patient had four seizures, each of which lasted for minutes and lasted for longer than a second. However, despite this short-term improvement, the patient experienced no change in his or her IQ score or in their ability to perform any task requiring focus. The short-term studies conducted by the FDA did not find any significant effects on patients using CBD oil for epileptic conditions; however, it is important to remember that these studies were performed on very small groups of individuals. Another recent study found that CBD may reduce the risk of heart disease, blood pressure and diabetes. In addition to reducing blood pressure, diabetes and heart disease, the study also reduced the risk of strokes and a decreased chance of people developing any of four types of cancers. While these results are yet to be proven in human studies, the preliminary results of these clinical trials are promising. If true, this would mean a great step forward for those who suffer from one or more of these diseases, and CBD may have the potential to dramatically lower the risks associated with them. Currently, CBD products available on the market to treat different conditions and are geared towards different symptoms. For example, CBD has been shown to effectively ease away the symptoms of nausea associated with chemotherapy, as well as those that occur following the surgery of various types. In fact, there are currently two medications on the market that work towards reducing the symptoms of multiple sclerosis, and CBD is said to be more effective at reducing pain than any other chemical substance currently known. In fact, a recent study showed that CBD was as effective, in some cases, at relieving pain as certain anesthetics. Clearly, the future for CBD looks good.
